In 1936 a Minneapolis store was opened. It was moved to Marquette Avenue in 1950 by Bert and his son, Hubert (Bill) W. White, Jr., who joined the company after WWII. Bill guided Hubert White through the early 70's. His mantra was quality traditional apparel with a flair, accompanied by warm personal service. Bob White, Bill's son and Brad Sherman, now VP and General Manager joined the firm in the 1970's. Together, they started a gradual shift to more modern clothing while maintaining the traditional Hubert White quality and good taste. The Saint Paul store closed in 1987. Several remodels of the Minneapolis store failed to create the desired ambience. More space was needed to present the newly expanded collection of Hubert White dress causal and sportswear offerings. So after 50 years on Marquette Avenue, the store moved to its current location. Hubert White was now one of the premier men's specialty stores in the country. Bert and Bill would be proud. Working together for over 30 years, Bob and Brad have successfully broadened Hubert White's scope while never betraying the store's base as a client-driven organization where customers are friends and staff are family. As Hubert White looks to the future the store continues to hold dear these values. |
